Houston, Texas
Neotexanaissance… now there’s a word! New-Texan-Birth. Now her’s another word. Sesquicentennial. That refers to the 150th anniversary of the state of Texas, and Houston too. The year was 1986, and Carolyn Farb and friends decided to hire musician/composer extraordinaire, Paul English, to compose a symphony for the event. This had classical music played by The Texas Chamber Orchestra, contemporary music played by some of the best country and jazz musicians in the country, and music played by a computer, and computer-synthesized music.
While that sounds like a lot, it was! What a great night, what fun! Paul rocked Houston like it never has been!
